The thing i love most about Spring: Dolce&Gabbana flowers

As  you’ve seen in my recent post, i just love to wear flowers in spring. Of course my passion for fashion is deeprooted, but i harbour another love: Flowers. If i didn’t succeed in the fashion world i would have love dto be a florist, always sorrounded by nature, flowers, with their inhebriating fragrance, colours and textures. I would have loved to care for flowers and plants all day long and prepare wonderful bouquets and compisitions. Continue reading “The thing i love most about Spring: Dolce&Gabbana flowers” »

My illustrations for Swide part 1

As i mentioned before, i grew up in a fashion environment thanks to my parents, and along with fashion, my upbringing lead be to draw too. When i was a child i loved to draw, i would just sit down with my coloured pencils and draw all the time. Of course when i got older i chose to pursue studies which allowed me to develop my drawing skills. I love researching illustrations, and while i actually draw, i believe its truly cathartic. I like using watercolour in particular, the texture and depth of the colours are fragile almost like flowers. Below i’ll show you some of my illustrations which have appeared on Swide. Here i’ve selected some of my favourite ones for the beauty section. Continue reading “My illustrations for Swide part 1” »

Interview with Giuliano Federico- Editor in Chief of Swide and overall communications guru

For me, Giuliano is a great man. He keeps surprising me every day. He’s enthusiastic and experimental and always has new ideas. As well as teaching me lots of things about the editorial side of fashion, Giuliano was one of the lovely peoples, with Dennis Valle and Yigit Turhan, who encouraged me to start theStylistme. I’ve known him since I started at Swide.com 4 years ago. He’s an admirable person and editor. It’s always fascinating to discuss ideas with him. I am very glad life has made our paths cross. Dolce&Gabbana Gold Edition Sunglasses

Dolce&Gabbana are launching an amazingly luxurious sunglass collection entirely gilded in 18K gold! The people in charge of the licensed portions of the Dolce&Gabbana family asked me to do some illustrations for the sunglasses. Here is what I came up with. It was important to have a clear visual aid to the men’s Gold Edition, as its rather special. It folds over in the middle and can be worn either attached to your belt or round the neck like a necklace. So I drew some illustrations which explain how the glasses work and the ways they can be worn once folded. I’m an ex fashion designer, and even though I’ve left that behind I still love to draw. It was a great experience and i love the idea that my illustrations are housed within the packaging of the sunglasses. Here’s a video of me drawing. A day with Luca Finotti and Bianca Balti for The Dolce&Gabbana Matt Silk Collection

The Dolce&Gabbana Matt Silk Collection enjoyed VIP treatment when Swide, in collaboration with Italian video maker Luca Finotti wrote the story and shot a pretty special video with Bianca Balti. The Matt Silk Collection is inspired by the Fifities, the shape of the frame, colours and general feel of the glasses breath the breath of days gone by. Luca Finotti created, in collaboration with Swide a beautiful video which speaks volumes. As fashion editor Yuri Ahn I was called to do the styling of the video, and here is a sneak peak at how the day went. It was my first time working with Luca, he’s great, a real young genius full of talent. The location: Milano Studioin via Tortona. This is the moodboard for the video: Luca created a Fifties feel, with the vintage Bianchina and the typical foulard tied round the driver’s head. The idea was to create a video which remanded to the classic filmic traits of a fifties Italian comedy.

My favourite beauty treats

Although I’m a fashion editor, I’m always seduced by beauty products- it’s a real passion of mine: perfumes, lotions and potions, I can never get enough. Here is a selection of my favourite products, which I use on an almost daily basis. I love Aleppo soap. It takes its name form the city of Aleppo in Syria, and its recipe is as old as the world (well not really, but you know what I mean). The process to make the soap is artesian, hand made and with the best raw materials. The attention and care that goes in the process make this is a one of a kind soap.  The soap is free of additives and chemicals. At the base of soap are olive oil and laurel oil, which have both moisturizing and antibacterial qualities. I use it for the body and face. It’s a miracle!  In Milan I get it from Naturasi.
